In yesterday’s victory over Dreamland Gran Canaria at La Fonteta in the first game of the Endesa League quarterfinal series, forward Josep Puerto became the ninth player to reach 300 games played wearing the Valencia Basket jersey. Yesterday’s game marked his 166th appearance in the Endesa League for the "Taronja" men's team in addition to 128 games in European competitions, 5 in the Copa del Rey, and 1 in the Endesa Supercup.
Josep Puerto made his debut with Valencia Basket on December 16, 2015, in a EuroCup win against Spirou Charleroi, where he scored his first two points for the team from the free-throw line. In his early seasons, he made occasional appearances and went out on loan twice, but he returned from one of those loans in the 2020–21 season and has since established himself as a first-team player. In his first season as team captain, he is having his best year in the Endesa League, averaging 7.8 points on 46.8% shooting from three-point range, along with 2.8 rebounds and a performance index rating of 8.4.
With this milestone, Puerto joins an exclusive club that includes only eight other players: Víctor Luengo (643 games), Bojan Dubljevic (629), Rafa Martínez (626), Sam Van Rossom (447), Nacho Rodilla (434), Víctor Claver (386), Guillem Vives (381) and Fernando San Emeterio (320).
